Why use our Electronic Design Services?
Ex Dynamics are not just your average electronics design consultancy. Our experience of electronic engineering to stringent safety standards and for harsh environments puts us ahead.
Our highly experienced electronics engineers ensure that your work is carried out rapidly, and to exacting standards. With commercial awareness and a deep understanding of design for manufacture, they deliver innovative solutions to challenging design criteria.
If your electronic circuit requires an accompanying enclosure or mechanism, our in-house mechanical engineers allow us to offer a full turnkey product design service.
Firmware, FPGAs and Embedded Electronics
Our electronics design services extend beyond hardware into software. We work with all brands of microcontroller and microprocessor, writing software and firmware in Assembly, C and C++. We are also experienced in FPGA design using Intel (Altera), Microchip (Microsemi) and AMD (Xilinx), employing either Verilog or VHDL for hardware description.
Design Tools, IPR and Handover Documentation
We use the latest industry standard electronics CAD software, which simplifies customer handover and future design maintenance. In addition, it enables us to export PCB 3D models to test mechanical integration prior to manufacturing physical prototypes. This helps catch issues early in the design process where they can more easily be addressed.
We document our design process from the very start, making sure that our circuit designs can be picked up and worked on by other electronic engineers. This documentation, together with all intellectual property including CAD files and source code is transferred to you on completion of the project.
Rapid Prototype Electronics Assembly and Testing
Our investment in low-volume SMT manufacturing and rework equipment allows us to rapidly assemble and modify prototype electronics in-house. To ensure that we produce reliable designs which meet your original specification, these PCBs are assessed in our lab against their design specifications.
Along with high-quality electronic test equipment, we also have in-house environmental testing facilities. Using these we ensure your circuitry works at elevated and reduced temperatures, plus where required, high humidity. Testing a circuit across its complete temperature range is always important, but particularly so for industrial, marine and hazardous area applications.

Electronic Design Services FAQs
An electronics design consultancy is a company you can use to increase your electronic engineering resource at short notice. This may be to help with a particularly challenging project or to quickly develop new products. A good quality electronics design consultancy has experience across a wide range of industries and products, and must deliver high quality designs, on time.
We can work with as much or as little information as you are able to provide. Even if all you have is just an idea! However, for projects which are inadequately defined at the outset, we start with a smaller project to perform a feasibility analysis or write a design specification. This is a specification you sign off that defines our scope.
Unfortunately, this is an impossible question to answer when projects vary so much in complexity and size. However, generally electronics prototyping isn’t as costly as full electronic product design because it does not require compliance.
We always carry out electronic development to an agreed design specification. From this, a test plan is created to ensure we deliver to your expectations.
The design specification not only contains functional product requirements, but also electrical and environmental requirements. Along with testing hardware and software against these requirements, we ensure that all components are operating inside their specifications. This gives the highest possible assurance that the design is reliable. Additional testing, for example fault mode examination, is performed for intrinsically safe or encapsulated electronics designed to hazardous area standards.
Yes! Once an electronic design project is complete and all invoices settled, we hand over all designs and any other agreed deliverables. This includes editable schematics and PCB layouts in their native CAD format, all software and any physical prototypes.
This is entirely up to you and is usually influenced by the project type. For full product development projects, we normally manage the entire EMC approvals process. This ensures we’re handing over a fully compliant product, ready for sale on the open market. For other scenarios like designing prototype electronics or modules not intended for individual sale, we can perform EMC pre-compliance if required.
No, but we hope the high quality service we provide makes you want to! Together with all CAD files, we provide a handover document which helps other electronics engineers pick up and modify the design.

Electronics Reverse Engineering and Gerber Modification
Throughout its lifecycle, an electronics design may require modification. It may be that there are obsolescence or supply issues, reliability problems to address, or compliance to update. However, sometimes editable CAD files may not be available to make these changes. For example, CAD files may be missing due to data loss, poorly managed mergers and acquisitions, staff changes, software incompatibility or subcontractor-related issues.Read more
